Puppy Grooming in Milton Keynes
Give Your Puppy the Best Start
Your puppy’s first grooming experiences can shape how they feel about visiting a grooming salon throughout their life. At Radleys Pet Styling & Academy, we make puppy grooming calm, gentle and positive, helping your puppy become familiar with the grooming process at their own pace.
Our puppy grooming service is suitable from approximately 12 weeks of age, once your puppy has completed their vaccinations and is able to safely visit the salon.
What Does a Puppy Groom Include?
Your puppy’s introductory groom may include:
-
A gentle bath using puppy-friendly products
-
Careful drying
-
Brushing and combing
-
Nail trimming
-
A light tidy around the face, feet and hygiene areas where appropriate
-
An introduction to the grooming table and equipment
-
Familiarisation with salon sights, sounds and smells
-
Plenty of reassurance, praise and short breaks
The service will be adapted to your puppy’s age, breed, coat type and confidence. We never expect a young puppy to manage every part of a full groom during their first appointment.
Our Puppy Welcome Offer
Every puppy attending their first introductory grooming appointment will receive:
-
A Puppy Welcome Pack
-
Helpful coat-care advice
-
Guidance on brushing and maintaining their coat at home
-
£10 credit towards their next full groom
Why Start Puppy Grooming Early?
Regular grooming from a young age helps your puppy become comfortable with:
-
Being handled around their face, feet, ears and body
-
Standing safely on a grooming table
-
The sound and sensation of dryers and grooming equipment
-
Brushing, combing and nail care
-
Being away from their owner for a short time
Early introductions are particularly important for breeds that require regular professional grooming, including Poodles, Cockapoos, Cavapoos, Doodles, Shih Tzus, Bichon Frisés and other long, wool or mixed-coated breeds.
How Often Should My Puppy Visit?
We normally recommend regular appointments every four to six weeks while your puppy is learning. Short, positive and consistent visits help build confidence and make future full grooms much easier and more enjoyable.
Your groomer will recommend an appropriate schedule based on your puppy’s breed, coat and individual needs.
Preparing for Your Puppy’s First Appointment
Before your visit, it can help to gently introduce your puppy to being brushed and handled at home. Briefly touch their paws, ears, face and tail while offering praise or a small reward.
Please let us know about any health concerns, sensitivities or previous experiences when booking. This helps us tailor the appointment to your puppy.
